If you haven’t heard lately cotton is on the rise and so is people liking Polyester apparel. I have seen things that we here at Embroidery Gals order on a regular basis go up at least 20% or more in the last two quarters of last year and already there has been a price increase this year. When will it stop?
With cotton prices on the rise performance materials such as polyester and polyester blended material is on the way back. These fabrics are costing less to manufacture and the public is liking how they feel and how they keep their look much longer then the cotton materials we are used to seeing. Most of the blended apparel you find these days has moisture wicking and stain repellent features but not all poly/cotton apparel has these features. Make sure if you are looking for those features you check the tags or ask someone if that item has those properties.
For the decoration aspect of things on a 50/50 blend you can do pretty much the same decoration process as a 100% cotton item. So embroidery, rhinestone transfers and even heat applied graphics should be able to be added without any issues. Just make sure you are asking your decorator if the type of apparel item will work with the process you are wanting your shirt decorated with.
Some of the great features of the poly/cotton blend are as follows:
- Moisture wicking capabilities – Great for those hot summer months to help you keep cooler and drier.
- Stain Repellent - Love this aspect, as I am always staining something I am wearing.
- Wrinkle resistant - How many mornings have you tried to get ready for work and had to stop and iron your shirt because of wrinkles?
- Lower manufacture cost means keeping more money in your pocket then cotton priced items.
