Cheer Megaphone Custom Cosmetic Bag

  • Posted on February 21, 2012 at 8:32 AM

We had the great pleasure in customizing 48 White Waffle Weave Cosmetic Bags for a cheer team.  What a great idea of giving all the cheerleaders a cosmetic bag!

The bags had each of the girls’ names embroidered in gold thread on them then we did a cobalt blue rhinestone megaphone on the bag.  They turned out awesome!

Cotton on the rise so is Performance apparel!

  • Posted on April 15, 2011 at 7:58 PM

Performance Apparel V-Neck TeeIf  you haven’t heard lately cotton is on the rise and so is people liking Polyester apparel.  I have seen things that we here at Embroidery Gals order on a regular basis go up at least 20% or more in the last two quarters of last year and already there has been a price increase this year.  When will it stop?

With cotton prices on the rise performance materials such as polyester and polyester blended material is on the way back.  These fabrics are costing less to manufacture and the public is liking how they feel and how they keep their look much longer then the cotton materials we are used to seeing.  Most of the blended apparel you find these days has moisture wicking and stain repellent features but not all poly/cotton apparel has these features.  Make sure if you are looking for those features you check the tags or ask someone if that item has those properties.

For the decoration aspect of things on a 50/50 blend you can do pretty much the same decoration process as a 100% cotton item.  So embroidery, rhinestone transfers and even heat applied graphics should be able to be added without any issues.  Just make sure you are asking your decorator if the type of apparel item will work with the process you are wanting your shirt decorated with.

Some of the great features of the poly/cotton blend are as follows:

  • Moisture wicking capabilities – Great for those hot summer months to help you keep cooler and drier.
  • Stain Repellent -  Love this aspect, as I am always staining something I am wearing.
  • Wrinkle resistant -  How many mornings have you tried to get ready for work and had to stop and iron your shirt because of wrinkles?
  • Lower manufacture cost  means keeping more money in your pocket then cotton priced items.

Advice Shirts for the Bride and Groom

Bride and Groom Shirts

These shirts make the perfect gift for the bride and groom to wear to their bachelorette party and bachelor party.  All you need to add is a fabric marker which you can pick up at Wal-Mart or any hobby store near you.  They could even wear these shirts at their wedding reception and have the guests sign the shirt with advice and the couple will then have a great wedding souvenir from their friends and family.

Here are a couple of places to pick up the fabric markers:

  • Joann Fabric – http://tinyurl.com/4ka75lp
  • Michael’s – http://tinyurl.com/45hfp4m
  • Hobby Lobby – http://tinyurl.com/4uomqzw

Bachelorette design measures approximately 8.4” x 5.8” and the Bachelor design measures 7.9” x 4.6”.  These are embroidered designs and not screen printed.

Custom Performance Tee Shirt

  • Posted on March 18, 2011 at 10:18 PM

We did this custom performance tee shirt as a decoration sample. You see all these great shirts in the store that are not screen printed but have been directly printed on. The shirt below is kind of like the directly printed(DTG) shirts however this is a slightly different process then the DTG shirts.

The difference we see between the three decoration processes is as follows:

  1. Screen print:
  • Expensive to decorate just 1 shirt
  • Will eventually wear out
  • Limited to colors per shirt
  • Can only be done on item that will lay flat

2.  Direct to Garment:

  • Costs the same for 1 shirt or 100 shirts
  • Costs extra for dark shirts
  • Not limited to a certain number of colors
  • Limited to apparel and items that can lay flat

3. Dye Sublimation:

  • Costs are the same for 1 item to 100 items
  • Not limited to colors
  • Not limited to apparel and flat items can also be done on mugs, photo frames, signs, flip flops and more.
  • Can only be printed on 100% polyester apparel
  • Higher cost of apparel item but is worth the high performance aspect of the item.
  • Can not print white ink
  • Will never wash out crack or peel

There is a difference in the feel between the 3 types of decoration. Screen printed and DTG printed shirts seem to be a little thicker than the dye sublimation as the dye sublimation goes right into the fibers of the apparel item and so it has a much softer hand to it than the others as well.
